How we test

Who does the testing

A Pom's World is run by Danielle, who has kept Pomeranians for more than ten years. The real testers are the pack:

• Beignet: a 4-lb wolf sable with a full double coat and strong opinions. Our most demanding coat-care subject.
• Bella: a rescue Pom mix, the senior of the group, who tells us what works for older joints and thinner coats.
• Boqui: our blue merle, the puppy energy and chew-test department.

Between them they cover three coat types and every life stage (puppy, adult, and senior), which is exactly the range a Pomeranian owner needs answers for.

How a product earns a place here

1. Real need first. We only test products that solve a problem we've actually run into: the wrong brush, the mat we missed, the treat that upset a stomach. We don't chase trends.
2. Hands-on use over weeks, not minutes. Grooming tools, supplements, and gear are used in our normal routine for at least several weeks. First impressions lie; daily use doesn't.
3. Tested on the coat that's hardest to please. If a brush or detangler can get through Beignet's full double coat without pulling, it'll work on most Poms.
4. Compared against what we already use. A new product has to beat the thing it's replacing. "Fine" isn't good enough to recommend.
5. Checked for the small stuff. Build quality, handle comfort, whether the dogs tolerate it, and whether it holds up after repeated washing or use.

What gets a product cut

We say no far more often than we say yes. A product doesn't make the cut if it:

• Pulls, scratches, or stresses the dogs in any way
• Falls apart, rusts, or stops working after normal use
• Relies on marketing claims we can't see hold up in real life
• Is simply outperformed by something we already trust

When something fails, it just doesn't appear here. We'd rather have a short list we stand behind than a long one we don't.
